In your first year at HOPES CAP, Inc., 10-month full-time employees can accrue thirteen (13) PTO Days, and 12-month full-time employees can accrue twenty-one (21) PTO Days, which is one allotment that can be used for vacation, personal or sick days. Please note that 10-month employees in Early Childhood Programs also receive paid holiday breaks (see Paid Holidays for more information).

As stipulated by the NJ Department of Labor employees accrue 1 hour of earned sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year.

HOPES CAP, Inc. recognizes that employees may have a family emergency or a personal crisis that causes a severe impact on them resulting in a need for additional time off above their available accrued time off. To address this need all eligible employees will be allowed to donate accrued time to their co-workers. This policy is strictly voluntary.

At HOPES CAP, Inc., we offer thirteen (13) paid holidays, with an additional paid holiday for Election Day during the Presidential Elections. HOPES CAP, Inc. aligns our agency calendar for each service area with the respective local Board of Education.

HOPES Early Childhood Programs employees in 10-month positions are granted breaks annually following the respective Board of Education calendars of the district in which the worksite is located. These breaks are typically Winter Break between Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, and many districts often set Spring Break as the week following Good Friday.

HOPES employees in 12-month positions are also granted Winter Break, and they may be granted Spring Break at the Agency's discretion, whenever operational and financial factors permit, and based upon an annual review of the practice.

At HOPES CAP, Inc., we understand the importance of supporting our team during difficult times, so we offer five (5) days of paid bereavement leave for our employees. HOPES employees can take bereavement leave for immediate family members.

HOPES CAP, Inc. provides unpaid job-protected leaves of absence in compliance with the Federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and New Jersey Family Leave Act (NJFLA).

HOPES CAP, Inc. provides twenty (20) days of unpaid leave so that employees can address circumstances resulting from domestic violence or sexually violent offenses in compliance with the New Jersey Security and Financial Empowerment Act (NJ SAFE Act).

At HOPES CAP, Inc., we understand the civic responsibility of jury duty. We support our employees by offering up to two (2) weeks of regular pay while serving on jury duty. HOPES employees are required to provide all necessary documentation and adhere to our policies and procedures. Employees will continue to receive and accrue benefits during jury duty including PTO, holiday pay, and health insurance coverage.

If an employee's jury duty is longer than two (2) weeks, the employee will be placed on unpaid leave until their jury duty is concluded.

At HOPES CAP, Inc., we deeply value the dedication of our reservists and National Guard members. In support of their service, HOPES CAP, Inc. offers the opportunity for these committed individuals to take leave for active duty or training exercises. Additionally, we provide up to two (2) weeks of regular pay during military service, ensuring financial stability while fulfilling their duty. Our goal is to uphold job security and offer seamless integration back to work upon their return.

If an employee's military service is longer than two (2) weeks, the employee will be placed on unpaid leave until their service is concluded.
