VITA / Help with income tax returns
The VITA Program offers free tax help to low-income (under $42,000) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Eligible individuals searching for a VITA site in Hudson County will be referred to the HOPES Family Resource Center by the IRS.
Trained by the IRS, the tax preparers at the Family Resource Center can assist with special credits, such as Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly for which one may qualify. In addition to free tax return preparation assistance, individuals may also file electronically (e-filing). Individuals taking advantage of the e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed on paper - even faster if you have your refund deposited directly into your bank account.
Income Tax preparation is conducted during tax season. Contact HOPES for exact dates.
