Job Search Assistance

HOPES, Inc. provides Job Search/Employment Engagement activities and services that assist individuals with developing skills necessary for obtaining and maintaining employment as well career advancement.

Services support the development of employable skills such as preparing a professional resume and cover letter, searching for appropriate career opportunities, conducting successful interviews and learning how to succeed and excel in the work environment through attending professional development workshops.

The majority of the services are provided through the HOPES, Inc. Family Resource Center.

Preparing for the Job Market

Clients will participate in a Career Assessment to determine individual career interests, obtain suggested career paths based upon the assessment results, as well as to learn about job opportunities available within the neighboring areas.

Individuals will also complete the Tutor Systems software tests to determine if academic reinforcement is needed in the areas of reading, grammar and mathematics.

Once all of the above assessments have been conducted individualized career plans will be established.

Job Search

Individuals receive assistance with the following employment support activities:

• Resume and cover letter preparation
• Exploring available career opportunities via the internet, newspapers and career bulletins
• Preparing for initial and follow-up interviews
• Attending local job fairs with HOPES, Inc. representatives

Professional Development Workshops

Workshops that will focus on career and work issues with the goal of helping to develop the tools necessary for moving toward a better personal and professional future will be offered weekly. All workshops will allow for active participation and group discussions and will include take home resource materials as well as follow-up activities.

• Empowering Yourself
• Basic Financial Literacy
• Positive Effects of Assertiveness
